Will your snake eat it?

There is good acceptance across colubrids — corn snakes, king snakes, milk snakes, hognose. Ball pythons respond well; some may need a short transition of 2–4 weeks. Larger pythons and boas vary — up to 6+ weeks in some cases. Our Transition Guide walks through tips and tricks for all species.

  • Corn snakes, King snakes, Hognose, Milk snakes — strong acceptance

  • Ball pythons, Boas, Large pythons — good with transition

We believe in being direct: some snakes take longer than others. That’s true of frozen mice too. Our Transition Guide was made specifically for reluctant eaters — and it’s included with every order.

Why this food is different

Farm-raised feeder rodents are too high in fat, low in protein, and mineral-deficient. Many snakes fed exclusively on them become overweight over time. Good Snake Food is formulated to match the nutritional profile of wild prey — lean muscle, organs, and bone in the right proportions, fortified with every essential vitamin and mineral.

FAQ

You asked, we answered!
  • Most snakes eat it — colubrids often within the first few attempts, pythons within 2–4 weeks. Every order includes our Transition Guide. Individual animals vary but the techniques in the guide work for the vast majority.

  • Yes. Formulated as a full replacement for feeder rodents — not a supplement. Complete proteins, fats, minerals, and vitamins modelled on wild prey. Freeze-drying locks in nutrition without preservatives.

  • Room temperature, cool dry place. Reseal tightly after each use. Avoid high humidity. No freezer required. Shelf-stable for travel.

  • Refrigerate for up to 1–2 days. Re-soak briefly in hot water and serve warm before re-offering. Discard if uneaten after the second attempt.

How to Serve

  • Step 1

Soak in hot water. Place in a small cup, add hot water, soak 30–60 seconds until softened to a texture similar to thawed frozen prey.
  • Step 2

Serve warm. Offer with feeding tongs or drop-feed. Serve while still warm. Many snakes respond better to prey at body temperature.
  • Step 3

Done. No smell, no mess, no cleanup. Reseal the pouch and store at room temperature.

If your snake refuses the first time try: a light egg dip, a brief broth soak, or offer at night — many snakes are nocturnal feeders. Our Transition Guide covers every technique. Most snakes accept within 2–6 weeks.
